TMT test is used to diagnose the functioning of the heart under stressful conditions. In this test, a patient is supposed to walk on a treadmill at a specific speed. During this, the electrical activity of the heart is recorded. The inclination and the speed of the treadmill are also increased gradually throughout the process, so as to increase the stress level and examining the heart performance.

This process is almost similar to an ECG checkup. The patent needs to be bare-chest while walking on the treadmill. Using an adhesive, the electrodes are then struck on the patient’s chest. After installing the electrodes, the patient starts walking on the treadmill and the speed and inclination are maintained by the technician who is conducting the test.

The doctor will take all the reports of the heart before conducting the test. This includes blood pressure, heart rate, and ECG report. If the patient experiences any discomfort or trouble, he/she immediately consult the technician. The normal problems are chest pain, shortened breaths, or fatigue.

After the test, the patient is supposed to lie down and all the reading is then taken.
